Our Story
SeeyaSynthetics exists because finding clothing made from real, natural fibers has become surprisingly difficult — and we think that's worth fixing.
If you've ever found yourself frustrated at the clothing store, flipping tag after tag looking for something that isn't 100% polyester — you're not alone. Across the internet, more and more people are asking the same questions: Why is everything plastic? Where can I find real cotton? Why is there spandex in everything?
The clothing industry quietly shifted toward synthetic fibers over the past few decades. According to Textile Exchange's 2025 report, nearly 60% of all clothing production worldwide is now synthetic — meaning more than half of what you find on the rack is, in one form or another, made from plastic.
We built SeeyaSynthetics as a curated directory where every single product has been verified to meet a strict 95% or higher natural fiber standard. We check the labels so you no longer have to.
Synthetic fibers — polyester, nylon, acrylic, spandex, elastane — are derived from petroleum. In other words, they are plastic. The same material used to make plastic bottles and packaging is being woven into the shirts on your back, the sheets on your bed, and the socks on your feet.
Beyond the feel of plastic against your skin, there's a broader concern that is increasingly hard to ignore: microplastic pollution. Every time a synthetic garment is washed, it releases hundreds of thousands of microscopic plastic fibers into the water. These fibers pass through wastewater treatment systems, flow into rivers and oceans, and work their way into the food chain — including the food and water we consume. Recent studies have found microplastics in human blood, lungs, and breast milk.
Synthetic clothing also doesn't biodegrade. A polyester jacket tossed in the trash will sit in a landfill for over 200 years. Natural fibers, by contrast, break down and return to the earth.
None of this is meant to be alarmist — most people aren't making this choice intentionally. The industry default is synthetic because it's cheaper to produce. We're here to make the better choice the easier choice.
Synthetic Fibers
Derived from petroleum. Essentially plastic thread woven into fabric.
Natural Fibers
Grown from the earth or raised on it. Breathable, biodegradable, real.
Every product on SeeyaSynthetics must meet a minimum of 95% natural fiber content. No exceptions. If a garment doesn't pass that threshold, it doesn't get listed.
We use two tiers to help you shop with confidence:
All Natural
100% natural fiber content. Not a single synthetic in the main fabric. These are the purest garments on the site.
Minimal Synthetics
95–99% natural fiber content. A small amount of synthetic may be present in the main fabric blend, and it is always disclosed on the product page.
Every listing shows you exactly what the fabric is made of — sourced directly from the brand, so you can shop with confidence.
We're not here to tell anyone how to live. We're not demanding ideological purity or perfect eco-consciousness. We just want to make it easy for people who want natural fiber clothing to actually find it — without spending an hour reading labels.
Our goal is to shift the mainstream default toward natural fibers. Every purchase that goes to a natural fiber product instead of a synthetic one is a small win — for your skin, for waterways, for the soil, and for a clothing industry that has gotten a little too comfortable wrapping us in petroleum.
We also want to support the brands that are doing this right. It costs more to source quality natural materials. The brands on this site have made that commitment, and they deserve to be found.
As we grow, we plan to expand our catalog, deepen our verification process, and continue raising the standard for what "good clothing" looks like. We're just getting started.
